Album Notes

Quiet Nights is an excellent 62-minute memorial to the fabulous proceeds of a lifetime musician, as well as the human legacy that Linton Garner forged in the shadows of a famous sibling. For a man who could have sought much greater fame, Linton Garner changed many lives. He was a wonderful man who won the hearts of many individuals who crossed paths with him. He has played and recorded with a ‘who’s who’ of musicians including Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie,
Fletcher Henderson, Miles Davis, Billy Eckstine and Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis. This session captures Garner with 2 of his closest friends, bassist Russ Botten and tenor saxophonist Ross Taggart. The trio makes its way through 8 beautiful standards and one Garner original. This a rare opportunity to hear Garner stretch out and really play and give you the sense of the beautiful melodicism that he was blessed with. All proceeds of this recording go to ‘The Linton Garner Jazz Award’ at Capilano College, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
