Album Notes

The Shadow of This Town is the third release from Texas troubadour Libby Koch. With a sound reflecting such influences as Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Patty Griffin, and Lucinda Williams, The Shadow of This Town is Americana through and through. Libby is a sixth generation Texan who makes her home in Houston.

The new album contains 10 original songs written by Libby and concludes with her signature cover of Robert Earl Keen’s Feelin’ Good Again. From the gospel inspired Lonesome Bound, to the bar anthem Texas Saturday, the bluegrass shuffle of Still in Love, the spiritual undercurrent of Too Damn Hard, and the rich harmonies of Starting to See, this record was fun to make, and it shows.

The Shadow of This Town was recorded and produced by Libby at The Bend Studios in Hempstead, Texas and was mixed and mastered by Brian Baker at Sound Arts Recording in Houston. All vocals and instrumentation were performed by Libby and her bandmates, Joe Devadanam (drums) and Sam Austin (electric guitar & dobro).

Libby will be touring throughout 2011 to support the album, with shows scheduled across Texas, in Nashville, and at The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. In 2010, Libby toured extensively across Texas and in Nashville at great independent music venues such as The Basement in Nashville, Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, Blanco’s and The Firehouse in Houston, The Aardvark in Fort Worth, and The Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe in Galveston.

The Shadow of This Town will be released by Nashtex Records on December 14, 2010. Libby’s previous releases include Redemption (2009) and The Barn Burner EP (2008).
