Album Notes

Libido was a Norwegian instrumental jazz group that existed in the last part of the 1980-ties. It consisted of four musicians, Henrik Hellstenius, Tellef Øgrim, Tore Eide and Inge Norum. All of them are active today. Hellstenius is a well known composer of contemporary music, Øgrim plays his fretless electric guitar, Eide write songs from his mansion overlooking the Oslo Fjord and Norum plays drums and experiments with percussion related instruments. After splitting up around 1990, the group has had a couple of reunion stints. To this day, different people known and unknown to the Libido members come forward with their memories of some of the themes from the only record the group ever made. Such memoirs are of course at once rewarded with a free record in the mail. Here at CdBaby, however, you have to pay a small amount in order to get it.

This is a great cd, especially if you are into instrumental music. There are some damn fine musicians playing damn fine music on it. The songs are really well recorded and executed, the music intricate and thoughtful (check the samples - you'll see what I mean). I, for one, am very glad I got this CD as it was worth every penny. In particular I like the song Guacamole, which is my personal favourite, lovely whammy bar guitar over a funky blues/jazz bass pattern, and hanging chords on the organ, excellent stuff!! Buy it, you will be glad you did.
