Album Notes

Lichen was established in 1981 and has been playing in the New England area ever since.

This is their first complete studio CD.

The band released the live album, "....Gathers No Moss" in 1987 and has finally filled their audiences request for a studio CD.

Lichen has shared the stage with the Outlaws, Maria Muldaur, Brewer and Shipley, NRBQ, and was Bo Diddley's band for a night after winning local radio station Rock 101's "Bo Needs A Band" contest. Known for their exciting live shows, Lichen captures that same excitment with "Come Early, Stay Late".

Top caliber Jam Band, especially live, these guys light it up

Come Early, Stay Late really captures the atmosphere everytime these guys play. They will rock the house no matter how many people are there, so everyone usually gets there Early to hang out (have a few), and stays til they start packing up the equipment (or after you finish your last Grateful Dead, whichever comes first).Anyways, this recording was in 98 I believe, and they just keep getting better. This summer they opened up for a Rat Dog (Bob Weir+friends)+ Bruce Hornsby show at Meadowbrook! If a live recording of this show ever becomes available, seize it, because these guys were phenomenal that night. Peace Friends, and Enjoy

One of the very best albums I have ever heard. Superb songwriting and musicianship. Track 3, Don't Fade Away, and Track 4, Sounds, are incredibly profound and moving, as good as anything by Robert Hunter, Dylan or Neil Young. That is not to say that the other songs are less noteworthy. They are all very very good indeed. But the aforementioned songs are true classics. On the whole, the album is a joy from start to finish. Everyone should have it.
