notes

Lise Liddell's "Lovers' Moon" is the second album release from the Houston based singer/songwriter. "Lover's Moon" was recorded at Cherry Ridge Studios in Floresville, Texas, and was produced by accomplished musician/songwriter/producer John Egan, also of Houston, Texas.

This album includes folk, pop, and Americana nuances. Liddell's lyrics are poetic yet concise, and her voice is clear and sweet, yet stirring. Her musical and lyrical themes celebrate the journey of the human heart - sometimes sorrowful but ultimately hopeful.

The instrumentation by well known Texas players includes steel and acoustic guitars played by Tommy Detamore; the violin and classic guitars played by Bobby Flores; electric, fuzz, and standup bass played by David Carroll; and keyboards and accordion played by Joel Guzman. Each of these musicians adds his unique interpretation of Liddell's melodies and lyrics to an album that is ultimately undivided. Additionally, the rhythm arrangements and programming of Matt Hammon lend a modern yet haunting feel to the songs.

Liddell has been performing live in Houston's premier venues since 1997. These venues include The Mucky Duck, Ovations, The Ale House, The Travis Café, Zelda's at Fitzgerald's, The River Café, and Rockefeller's where Liddell released her first Album, White Heart in 1999. Liddell was a Lillith Fair Talent Search finalist in 1999 in Austin, TX, Seattle, WA, and Portland OR.

The C.D. release performance for "Lovers' Moon" will be at Houston's "The Mucky Duck" on October 4, 2002 @ 9:00 p.m. C.D.s are available exclusively at Cactus Music - 2930 S. Shepherd, Houston, TX.

  • Outstanding!! Like a surprise gift box of mixed, rich chocolates!

This CD knocked me over with its originality and musical artistry, by both Lise and her excellent, tight band. From the first cut to the last, this CD plays with the heart and mind, and on a high intellectual level, has the brain spinning over the steady flow of profound and sometimes biting statements on love and life. Buy this CD and be prepared to feel guilty over the pleasure you receive.

  • This CD is well worth adding to your collection

As familiar as peanuts, as easy-goin' as an ambling possum in the moongarden, this CD is a treasure. Much like the childhood thrill of shiny nichols, I found each track to be no manic lark, but rather a true joy to listen to again and again. Further low comments are not necessary; I predict this artist will be a bigg success. BTW, her live sessions are OUTSTANDING. I go regularly.
