Album Notes

"This is not an act of treason" shouts The Lieutenants frontman Adrian Symcox on the opening track of his band's debut E.P. And he is right in this assertion. While there is no shortage of bands claiming The Clash, The Jam, or Elvis Costello as influences, The Lieutenants do not betray the legacy of Strummer, Weller, or Costello. Having grown up between London and Los Angeles in the early eighties, Symcox delivers charged, intelligent anthems with poise and conviction. With a lineup rounded out by drummer Jeff Meeker, bassist Pablo Solorzano, and lead guitarist Adam Arcos, the Lieutenants have built a solid following in and out of Los Angeles, via myspace, radio play on L.A.'s Indie 103.1, and, gasp, actual word of mouth. The band has played to sold-out crowds at the Knitting Factory, and the Fold. Portland, Oregon based OneBeat Records snapped up the opportunity to release the band's debut E.P. A full-length L.P. and west-coast tour are in work for early 2008 with national and European tours to follow.

Wow

As an old [school] punk, I don't expect much these days, but the Lieutenants are for real. It's a cd that refuses to come out of the player. Great band.
