If Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band procreated with Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention and raised their child on indie rock, Lifeguard Nights would be that child.

Album Notes

Lifeguard Nights is the illegitimate love child of Vincent Brue, founder of the now-defunct South Jersey Seashore Lifeguard Convention Band. After years patrolling the beaches by day and rock clubs by night, Vincent decided to hang up his speedo and venture out on his own. He locked himself in his room and produced over 100 songs in the span of 6 months, experimenting with recording techniques and the typical singer/songwriter fare.

After distributing these lo-fi/indie/folk rock recordings around to various friends and musicians, interest in forming a band to perform these songs began to grow. A couple months into 2007, Lifeguard Nights had morphed from a solo project into an 8 piece ensemble featuring bass, drums, piano, keyboards, harmonium, vibes, percussion, trumpet and intricate harmony vocals.

This incarnation of Lifeguard Nights recently took the stage at NYC's famed Mercury Lounge, garnering a favorable review from Limewire.com, who wrote "Lifeguard Nights play with infectious satisfaction...their universal good-will spreads through the crowd...onlookers find themselves singing along with the choruses..."

In July of 2007, Lifeguard Nights headed into the studio to record their first full-length, full-band album, and caught the ear of John Noll, President of Headshop Records. This Red Bank, NJ based Indie label will be putting out the debut Lifeguard Nights cd, titled "The Church of Song", in late September 2007. A pre CD-release party is scheduled for the Mercury Lounge on Friday, August 17th, and a West Coast tour has already been booked for September.

Catch them while you can! Safe swimming!
