Album Notes

Portland, Oregon's own The Lights Out have released their debut album Let There Be The Lights Out.

With all four members over six feet tall the band also officially announces its position as “the tallest band out of one hundred thousand bands in Portland.”

Combining the energy of the band’s live performances with the sound quality of a studio recording, Let There Be The Lights Out is an excellent 34-minute snapshot of the band and a reminder that indie rock was once (and still can be) a good time.

Recorded in two days, the album flows with a sense of continuity, rawness, and feeling through its folk, metal, dance, rock, and latin musical styles. Heavily influenced by The Beatles, The Pogues, The Pixies, and Brendan Benson, The Lights Out feature Justin Youngers on acoustic guitar, Casey Pettit on electric guitar, Joel Kinunen on bass, and Seth Gross on drums. All four members provide the vocals.

After years of being in bands that were “cool” but not fun, the members of The Lights Out decided to form a band for the masses of individuals who want their music alternative but not boring, catchy but not cliché, folky but not sappy, fun but not unoriginal, accessible but not simple. If you are one of these highly intelligent and charming individuals then Let There Be The Lights Out is for you.

The album is one of the last to be recorded at Jackpot! Recording Studio’s original Morrison St. location. It will be available for purchase at The Lights Out live shows, at the band’s website (www.myspace.com/tloband), on CD Baby, and on iTunes.

Some copies of the album even contain 3D glasses, making the music that much sweeter.
