Quietly (or not so quietly, depending on your persuasion), Fresno, CA-based LightStream has carved for themselves a unique niche in the monolith that is modern rock. Propelled by powerful guitars, layers of percussion, synthesizer textures, and tight, pop-tinged harmonies, each track leaps out of the speakers and commands attention. This is rock for both the serious thinker and the casual listener.

Having toured numerous countries, LightStream has absorbed the musical flavors of many cultures and combined them with fist-pumping rock to create a record of surprising depth and relevance. There are tinges of Latin, classical, jazz, and even gospel interspersed among the tracks. Fans of prog-rock will appreciate the careful composition and innovative arrangements combined with stellar musicianship. Art-rock devotees will find layers of meaning and substance in the poetic lyrics.

Perhaps the most striking feature of this album is the level of personal expression and vulnerability in the songwriting. Each song--by wrestling (and sometimes dancing) with themes of life, love, death, faith, and truth--invites listeners to examine closely their own human condition from an unashamedly Christian perspective. Combining such lyrical expressiveness with the sonic wallop of the music (all capped off by pristine production) is a truly remarkable feat that makes this album a gem.
