Album Notes

Talented singer/songwriter Lilac Sheer teams up with folk/country veteran, musician Shay Tochner, to record their second album titled "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine". The album is a live tribute to the 60's protest singers, officially released on June 6th 2010 in Tel Aviv. For the past three years, Lilac has taken the Israeli folk scene by storm, successfully performing at acclaimed venues all over Israel while conquering the main stage at the Biggest Folk festival in the country "Jacob's Ladder" http://www.jlfestival.com.

This new and exciting album was initiated to honor Pete Seeger's 90th birthday, which was celebrated in a ceremony in Madison Square Garden NY May 3rd 2009. The album was recorded at a top of the class professional recording studio, in front of a live audience, which gives a unique, intimate and authentic setting, suitable for this genre of music.

Lilac Sheer, a promising young singer/songwriter with an angelic soprano voice and a captivating stage presence, joins folk veteran Shay Tochner, to create pleasurable new acoustic interpretations for the songs we all know and love. The Album includes some of the best and well known songs from the work of Pete Seeger (“Guantanamera”, “Turn Turn Turn”, made into an international hit by The Byrds, "If I had A Hammer" later performed by Peter Paul & Mary and The Weavers), Joan Baez (“Diamonds & Rust”, “El Preso Numero Nueve”), Bob Dylan (“Blowin' In The Wind”), Joni Mitchell (“Big Yellow Taxi”, “Both Sides Now”) Judy Collins (“Anathea”, “Someday Soon” written by Ian Tyson), and more.

The album, named after It's first track "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine", was carefully recorded, mixed, and mastered, capturing that good old acoustic sound while keeping the quality up-to-date.
