Album Notes

Talented singer/songwriter Lilac Sheer teams up with folk/country veteran, musician Shay Tochner, to record this new album titled \"A Dove & Beyond\", officially released on Aug 19th 2008 in Tel Aviv. For the past two years, Lilac has taken the Israelis folk scene by storm, successfully performing at acclaimed venues all over Israel while conquering the main stage at the biggest folk festival in the country, \"Jacob\'s Ladder\". You can read some reviews at the site guest book: http://www.jlfestival.com.

This album covers some beautiful traditional songs and ballads from Ireland, England and Scotland, and then takes you across the Atlantic Ocean for some of the most well-known American country classics, all performed with Lilac\'s personal interpretations. Songs include Janis Joplin\'s \"Bobby Magee\", Dolly Parton\'s \"Jolene\" and \"Wildwood Flowers\", Irish renown \"Down by the Sally Gardens\" (with a refreshing waltz arrangement), \"Blacksmith\" and \"My Youngest Son Came Home Today\" by Eric Bogle as well as Lilac\'s originals \"Sunlight\", \"Awaiting the Dove\" and \"Pull You Up\", which has been frequently played on Israel\'s leading radio stations. You can listen to some of the tracks on her MySpace: www.myspace.com/lilacsheer \".

The album, named for the bonus track \"Awaiting the Dove\", was carefully recorded, mixed, and mastered, capturing that good old acoustic sound while keeping the quality up-to-date.

Quotes from local critics:
\"Just like her name, Lilac\'s voice is as clear and refreshing as blossoms. Her music portrays a fragile yet precise balance between her light-hearted, catchy melodies and her deep, honest, uncompromising lyricism, making it almost impossible to pinpoint the complex background of her upbringing… Lilac\'s message in her songs is not one of the hard-knock life, but rather a heart-felt optimistic view on things. Inspired by the likes of Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Jewel, Alanis Morissette, and more, Lilac\'s natural attraction is folk-rock with a touch of country & blue. Lilac\'s 1st CD \"A Dove & Beyond\" in collaboration with folk veteran Shay Tochner features some strong vocal performances in Lilac\'s interpretation of classic American and Celtic folk, as well as on some of her original songs.
***************
\"If you wish to entertain your mind and at the same time appease your heart, you should listen to Lilac Sheer, singer and songwriter. This Israeli-born singer, specializing in the country and Irish folk music styles, features a very classic approach to this kind of music and yet brings a young and personal twist to it with her fresh and somewhat crisp voice. She mastered Italian classic Bel-Canto singing with the late Maestro Daniel Amarollio… Lilac met with folk veteran Shay Tochner and started performing with him on a regular basis, featuring American and Irish Folk music, as well as Lilac\'s original materials. This wonderful collaboration soon flourished, and had lately resulted in the touching \"A Dove & Beyond\" album, a mix of folk favorites and 3 of Lilac\'s originals accompanied by a beautiful performance. Go and enjoy this young lady\'s talent. She\'s a celebration. I enjoyed her so much I got her disc right after the show so I could prolong the pleasure. Yeah, I\'m glad I did…\".
