Album Notes

An Arcata, CA based performer and songwriter, Lila Nelson has been writing songs since her single digits. A true poetic intuition--her unconventional voice conveys at once the joy and pain of the everyday. "Still Got The Farm" pulls from songs spanning a ten year period. The recording is co-produced with Ian Caliendo, who accompanies on mandolin, guitar, and mbira.

"Great songs with poetic tendrils that cling...her environment as a writer is environment itself...she's talented!"
-Loudon Wainwright III,
Singer/Songwriter/Actor

"Freewheelin' lyrics, melodies that darted and dove like sparrows, some fine harmonica playing to boot...I had to shake off her spell...She's fantastic!"
-Mark Erelli,
Singer/Songwriter

Unadulteraded musical bliss

This CD will scratch the subliminal mosquito bite on the achy-blue you didn't even know you had. Like cool, loving hands on your fevered wrinkled cro-magnon overbrow, this CD delivers catharsis in spades, diamonds, and especially hearts. From the airy empty-house of "Fresh Paint" to the sparse, thrill-chilling strings of "Deadlines" to the now-you-see-it-now-you-don't melody of the title track, this is the real deal. A stunning lyrical acheivement, delivered with iconoclastic zeal by a voice to get lost in and a band of complex musical ideaologies talking very quietly. Get it and sleep forever under the Bodhi Tree.
