Lila (pronounced LEE-lah, meaning "Divine Play" in Sanskrit) Sakura (Japanese for “Cherry Blossoms.” Often used as a symbol of the sacrifices made by the samurai.): Minimalist dark spoken word
A musical memoir of survival art in the line of Christina Crawford's expose 'Mommie Dearest' and Tobias Wolff's 'This Boy's Life'. Lila Sakura is a multi-media recording artist from Upstate, New York. She brings to life the words she wrote over a decade ago, when she was a teenager, being tormented by a violent paranoid schizophrenic mother from Tokyo, Japan. The child abuse and Lila's depressing descent into debilitating anxiety are graphically re-enacted via spoken word set to electronic music. Running Time approximately 25 minutes.
Bio:
The spoken word tracks of Lila Sakura's "Soul Killer" debut cd range from depressing mother-Daughter battles like "Maternal Instinct?" "Homemade Death" "Mother" and "I am Dying" to the self-cutting session "Closet Killer" to the Suicidal ideation Lottery losing "Six Numbers Short (aka ?-?-?-?-?-?) to the dramatic, horror-filled, true stories "Don't Shoot" and "Fire," with the occasional quirky tracks "Beepock" and "The Unhappy Clown," thrown in to lighten the somber mood.
Lila Sakura initially wrote the spoken word when she was a teenager in the late 80s/early 90s, and recorded and set the tracks to music in late 2007. She released her debut disc in March of 2008. If you can relive her childhood experiences and her depressive episodes, Lila Sakura's upcoming follow-up "The Karma Syndrome" will start to take you through her healing transformation, though still marred time to time by her past.

Simple and short but brilliantly crafted masterpiece. Maybe a little insufficient in time, though I still I wholeheartedly support the artist.
