Album Notes

folk at heart with echoes of blues and jazz and featuring harmony, guitar, recorder, hand percussion, and chromatic and diatonic harmonica, lili and walter’s who drinks from the lilies explores life, love, suffering, and transcendence through original and traditional songs.
married and living in austin, lili and walter began performing as an acoustic duo in 2007. margaret moser of the austin chronicle praised their 2009 debut record: “Skimpy production adds immeasurably to the lo-fi charm of lili and walter’s self-titled CD. The eleven homespun songs hearken to Delaney and Bonnie’s Motel Shot (1971), stripped down, casual, and alluring in their bare presentation. Rootsy instrumentation propels their sound through denim-soft originals with a rural gospel flavor (“Shout # 5”) and gorgeous traditionals (“Poor Wayfaring Stranger”).
walter white has performed in the bands the solid senders, the little giants, and the biscuit rollers. lili li has published a story in shenandoah and is a winner of the austin book award for her story collection dancing, written under the pseudonym ruby turner.
