The Limestones are a seven-voice male a cappella group at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Founded in 1989, the group is now in its 20th year of existence at St. Olaf. The Limestones have grown over the years, working through an exciting evolution of a cappella singing. They have incorporated a more contemporary pop style of music and have performed throughout the Midwest for schools, businesses, private functions, and have also performed in such places as The Ordway Center in St. Paul, MN and on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion. The Limestones have performed with professional a cappella groups such as Ball in the House, M-Pact, and Rockapella. Most of the music performed by The Limestones, are either written or arranged by members of the group.
The Limestones album "Rock Solid" was nominated for best male collegiate a cappella recording at the 2003 contemporary a cappella recording awards (CARA). Their track "Taken Up" off of "Stone By Stone" was also nominated for a CARA award, the Best Male Collegiate a cappella song of 2007. In addition, "Taken Up" was selected to be on the Best Of College Acappella (BOCA) 2007 compilation disk.
Their most recent album, "Fossilized" was recorded and mixed in early 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Luke Harper. Recording took place at The Terriarium and the mixing process was completed at Audio Altimeter. Greg Reierson Mastered the disc at Rareform Mastering, also of Minneapolis.
