Twelve songs in celebration of the sacred. Guest artists include Linda's daughters, Jen and Kristin Allen-Zito, Janet Stecher and Susan Lewis, Equinox, Jami Sieber, Tracy Spring, Karen Reitz, Linda Sievert, Phil Boulding and more!
"Linda Allen's music has enriched my life. The sheer beauty of her songs, the deeply moving lyrics, and the sweet quality and range of her voice, all combine to open the heart. They make a person more grateful to be alive."
---Joanna Macy
"'Lay It Down' sings of a deep, womanly spirituality--wholly Christian and wholly feminst, all with weavings of the Goddess and hints of pantheism. Linda's music comes from a woman strong in herself...She sings the songs of women in the ordinary moment--and in the extraordinary."
--Catherine Grove, Christian New Age Quarterly.
"a beautiful and lively expression of women's lost voices--the voices of women's spiritual journeys, longings and lost history." --Betsy Rose
"'Lay It Down' is powerful, good music which is impossible to categorize. Songs range from nature-centered, Goddess anthems such as 'Sometimes I'm Cedar', 'Lady River', and 'Womanspirit', to strong-voiced political action songs 'They're Comin' After You' and 'Hard Work To Do', to explicitly Christian (albeit feminist) stories of 'Mary, Mary', 'God, I Cannot Call You Father' and 'Waiting for the Morning.' One moment I felt challenged to political action; the next I was crying from her poignant stories of love, longing, and loss. Highly recommended."

Great words, great music, great voice! A great CD with Spirit!
author: Tyler
This CD is great. It is reminiscent of the women's music of the 60's and 70's with a spiritual theme. It could have been written by someone familiar with Cakes for the Queen of Heaven. I am, and I loved it. Definitely women's spirituality. We need more music like this to accompany us on our journeys and affirm our diverse experiences of the Sacred. This is one of my top CD's.
