Biography

Linda is truly inspired by the world around her. She often builds metaphors between milestones in her life and nature, crafting vivid mental pictures. Her songs masterfully combine exquisite vocals and warm guitar.
Her lyrics are poetic, sometimes a little humorous, but mostly not. Linda writes in equal parts from the heart and the head and her songs cover a nice range of subject of matter. Juicy love songs to moody been-done-wrong songs to introspective and spiritual discovery songs, this album has it all!
Musically, Linda has been influenced by many genres of music and weaves bits of them into something all its own. A little folk, A dash of rock, pinch of blues, and just the tiniest hint of alterno-twang.
Her musical road began very early in life when she began to play the piano by ear as a young child. She was classically trained in piano and voice for twelve years, accumulating many awards at the local and state levels and leaving a few infuriated music teachers in her wake because of a refusal to just read the music. She then decided to branch out on her own as a self-taught guitarist to save the sanity of music teachers everywhere.
Linda grew up in Louisiana and still draws from her many experiences there. She still has a fascination with the deep south, its quirky, warped culture, and all the aspects of nature found there. This fascination resurfaces time and again in her songs.
Linda lived in Northwest Arkansas for about 4 years and has just relocated to Asheville, NC. Always known for her prolific writing, she's penned several new songs since her relocation and is steadily making a name for herself in the Southeast.
Linda's music is now being played on several independent radio stations in the U.S., Canada, and abroad including:

KUMD - Duluth, MN
99.7 FM - Brisbane, Australia
CKLN 88.1 - Toronto
CJRT 91.3 - Saskatchewan
WTIP - Grand Marais, MN
KPRI - 102.1 FM - San Diego, CA
WSCL - Salisbury, MD

  • A Treasure
    author: Richard Hayes

If you can only buy one CD this year, you need to make it "Kudzu" by Linda Dickson. It reminds me of "Blue" by Joni Mitchell -- the more you listen the more you will like this outstanding set of warm intimate songs. Not a bad cut on the CD, every week I have a different "favorite" song on this amazing collection of stories. "Twinkle" and "Kudzu" go my "best of" collection, and "My Little Nut" takes sarcasm to a new level. Do yourself a favor and get this CD, and then go see Linda in person!

  • Her songs are awesome
    author: Singer Magazine

The additions of nature analogies in her lyrics are not only creative, but also very effective in getting the song stuck in your head. And believe me it will. This, however is a good thing; her songs are awesome.

  • Easy to listen to...easy to love.
    author: Jill

Very easy to listen to. Poignant lyrics that remind me of home, which is also Linda's home.

  • Linda has the voice of an angel
    author: Brad

Linda has the voice of an angel, a style all her own, and writes like a veteran folk-star. Unlike most CD's, every song on "Kudzu" shines and gets stuck in your head. I can't wait for her next recording!

  • Very smooth listening music as you work or travel

I enjoy the variety in style. Very smooth listening as I work or travel.
