Album Notes

Linda Foy is Jazz stylist/singer/songwriter inspired by the brightly colored musical landscapes of the South American rain forest and urban Brazil...as well as the vast blue openness of Montana where she currently resides.

This CD reads like a travel log of Linda's life up to now, her own internal landscapes, and her obvious love of multicultural musical styles.

Her voice imparts coolness, seriousness, and playfulness in her original songs, as well as in her interpretations of jazz classics, like the beautifully rendered bittersweet ballad Lush Life.

This cd is full of interesting rhythms and unusual song forms with some great playing by her band, including the always-inspired Bob Moses on drums and percussion.

To put Amazon Calling in the Jazz bins would be a mistake.

This is a CD that will cross over genre lines for listeners who enjoy putting on a CD and allowing it to take them to interesting places.

There are no 3 1/2 minute perfect pop ditties on here, but it should not be overlooked by those of us who love a good melody and a great beat.

This is World Music at its non-pretentious best and those looking for music that traverses musical borders, resulting in the best aspects of the experience, will not be disappointed.

And with an experimental flair in its approach to production, it should reach more demanding listeners without alienating others.

This is Jazz/ Pop/Brazilian/American/funk/World beat/modern folk/rock -too many words for a very satisfying internal musical journey of a great artist.

What a wonderful swirling mix of EXOTIC influences in a sonically fascinating album. LISTEN TO THE SECOND TRACK! It sums up the whole album well: Brazilian influence over worldbeat funk drums, with tickling production. Cool vocals used for not just lyrics, but as another instrument in a brilliant GENIUS arrangement. LISTEN TO THE FOURTH TRACK. Reminds me of Paul Simon's Graceland album but with more interesting sonic production. Amazing....

This music seemed to wash out of the speakers at me like a warm hose left in the july sun...only it tastes more like coconut, mango and corn tortillas...wait a minute......that is not really accurate..I mean this music engulfs you like cool sheets on a hot night....dark room lit by stars out the window a faint cry of a siren on an ocean breeze..........oh, thats not right either....All I'm saying is this is really good music that is different, warm, revealing and human and funky and fun and tasty and colorful. I like this CD!!!
