Album Notes

Mid Atlantic singer songwriter Linda Nelson, from Glen Arm, Maryland, has released her second CD entitled "Molasses".While still remaining true to her soulful style and southern roots, Linda's strong sultry alto takes "Molasses" into new territory. Her growth as an artist and producer, her passion for rhythm, and her love for music that crosses over borders are clear from the opening song through to the last. In the summer of 2000 she attended a workshop with Babatunde Olatunge and soon found herself recording with one of his instructors, Quint Lange. Also joining Linda on this record is John Grant (engineer/producer), Billy Kemp (artist/producer), John Thomakos (drums), Jay Dulaney (bass), Hoppy Hopkins(drums/percussion. Such veratile talent combined with Linda's songwriting and soulful voice gives " Molasses" a rich sound with a deep blend of styles.

Linda has focused on performing , doing opening spots at the Birchmere for Steve Forbert, as well as the Rams Head on Stage for Aaron Neville, Warron Zevon and Delbert McClinton. She continues to write and is currently working on her next CD.
