LINDA ROSENTHAL
Violinist Linda Rosenthal has performed throughout the world, presenting both the classic repertoire and premieres of new works by contemporary composers. She's appeared in recitals, as soloist with orchestra, and as chamber musician in North America, Europe and Asia. Linda has commissioned over a dozen works since the early '90s, including pieces for solo violin, electric violin, violin and piano, violin and narrator, and solo violin with jazz Big Band. She has earned national acclaim for her Strings & Stories, a dynamic pairing of violin and theater that she first presented at The Kennedy Center in 1995 under commission for The Imagination Celebration. She and actor Bill Blush perform this show for thousands of children each year throughout the U.S. Her five CDs - Ten Favorite Violin Encores, Oh! That Stradivarius, Three American Sonatas; Glacier Blue with the Bruce Paulson L. A. Allstar Big Band; and Fiddle De Bop with pianist Lincoln Mayorga - have earned praise from American Record Guide and Fanfare Magazine. Linda is Founder/Artistic Director of Juneau Jazz & Classics, Music Director of the Lake Placid Chamber Music Seminar in Lake Placid, NY and teaches at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska, where she makes her home.
