notes

Linq winds her way through a guitar-driven collection of folk/rock songs that touch upon love and loss, friendship, and political issues. Her fans have compared her to Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Melissa Etheridge, and Sarah McLachlan among others, but in fact her vocals are her own unique sound. Her backup musicians bring her songs to a new level and include June Millington (Fanny, Slammin' Babes), Jean Millington (Fanny, Slammin' Babes), Julie Wolf (Ani DiFranco), Michaelle Goerlitz (Wild Mango), Janelle Burdell (Slammin' Babes), Lee Madeloni (Slammin' Babes),Loren Weisman (Alan Marcus Band), and Ellen Clegg (Found Sounds). From the bare, folky fingerpicking of Wolf and Dove, to the classic rock sound of Ready For Love, to the psychedelic 60's sound of Rock and Roll Woman, she'll take you on a journey that you don't want to miss. And... her razor sharp statements on discrimination (Don't You Understand) and war (War Machine) speak for themselves.

LINQ, "... a songwriter whose life is a magnet for the kind of serendipitous events a critic would disbelieve were you to fictionalize them for a novel or movie."

JOURNEY "... in just [53] minutes and 14 cuts, manages to artfully articulate opinions on some of the most important and controversial issues facing society today." "Everything about 'Journey' is professional quality. The cover art, photography and graphic design of the lyrics insert make a positive first impression. The technical mastering is top notch. Combined with the magical combination of instruments and voices, 'Journey' will sell and sell big once it receives the exposure it deserves."
Mary Barclay, Athol Daily News 9/3/05

"JOURNEY is a stellar showcase of a singer-songwriter coming into her own."
Craig Semon, Montachusett T&G/Worcester Telegram 8/25/05

JOURNEY “Wow, so many great songs on it. Really like ‘Don’t You Understand’, great guitar and vocals on ‘Ready For Love’, getting into ‘Rock and Roll Woman’…”

"HER MUSIC is stirring, the words poetic, and the pictures filled with symbolism. The CD is the first step of a long journey, and Linq is on solid ground tapping into her personal tragedy and triumphs to find her art."
D. Durling, Winchendon Courier 4/14/05

"STRONG, unfaltering, and on a new journey, singer/songwriter Linq is opening her music up to the national scene and educating those who hear it on political and spiritual issues and issues facing the gay and lesbian community."
Diversions / the Recorder 4/7/05

JOURNEY "13 powerful tracks" "With each song, you learn more of Lincoln's own personal journey, her setbacks and disappointments, and her convictions."
Paula Owen, Quabbin Valley Voices February 2005

JOURNEY "The results are impressive." "The CD pretty much runs the gamut of emotions, and the emotions are all Lincoln's. What's nice is that Linq's voice matches the feeling she is striving to communicate in each song. No one can possibly claim that ‘all these songs sound the same’; each song is refreshingly unique."

Linq's guitar-based songs are a blend of folk and classic rock. Linq pens sons that are poetic and filled with symbolism, addressing themes of loss, love and politics. Journey is an apt title for her thirteen plus one bonus track CD. Her music travels from the folksy, finger picking 'Wolf and Dove', to the psychedelic 'Rock and Roll Woman' to the edgy 'War Machine'. The CD opens with the title track and sets the tone for the rest of CD, with its strong lyrical content and songs sung with conviction. 'Ain't No Use' underlines its point with piercing guitars and a snappy hook line. Linq is an artist who writes original, personal songs that are played with passion.

  • Great lyrics mixed with soulful rock. Awesome!

Linq puts her heart and soul into this rockin' cd. Awesome Lyrics! The addition of her guest artists put it right over the top. Looking forward to the next cd. Rock on Linq!

The songs really do take you on a journey. Linq speaks from her heart, and combines emotional lyrics with powerful guitar-playing. Two of my faves- Livin' my Life Again, and Ready for Love.

  • Wow! There's some serious guitar-based music here.

The emotion just bleeds out of this CD. And... each song has its own unique sound. War Machine and Don't You Understand kick some major political butt! Ready For Love is a wonderful classic rocker, and Rock & Roll Woman has a real psychedelic 60's sound. There's a great cover of Shawn Mullins' song, Lately, too. Try it, you'll like it!
