Godspeed

When I put the CD in my player I thought this can’t be a women rhyming like this, I was very impressed by Lin Que’s rhyme flow on God Speed and who can’t forget her part in the Hip Hop group The X-Clan with brother J and the Professor X (God bless his soul), I felt Lin Que delivery was extraordinary and I mean if she was in a free style battle she would put away a lot of well known artist, she definitely holds her own on the mic, so some of you artist better tighten up your skills because This Nubian God seed will bring it to your front door and open it, I particularly like the song’s Keep it Real Tight and Get it Poppin, You got to give it to the sister, if you got it you got it and Lin Que sure delivers, definitely a must have CD.

LIN QUE "GODspeed"
author: Sandi Soler
When it comes to spit fire lyrics and commanding presence Lin Que delivers the goods. Many HipHop heads may have remembered Lin Que for her lyrical prowess as Isis from Blackwatch Movement and pro-black Hip Hop group X-Clan. During her tenure with Blackwatch Movement/X-Clan she released the critically-acclaimed ‘Rebel Soul’ with much fan-fare and anticipation. Lin Que continued to spellbound on guest appearances ranging from artists Will Downing, Mary J. Blige to MC Lyte. And this time around she comes with the quickness on ‘GODspeed’. Serving as Executive Producer; she oversees the twelve tracks creation, which rings truth of what she’s bringin’: mind-blowing verses, in-your-face flow, and sample-free production.
Let me give you a taste on the selected tracks from “GODspeed”. And speaking of the title track, the song is a metaphorical interpretation on how to stay true to self without selling your soul in the industry for that almighty bling bling dollar. Here’s a sample of the 1st verse that kicks visual truth to the way she sees it.
Nigga’s getting high, off the fame and karats
Sell their soul and die, for some ice and cabbage
Teaching all the youth, it’s about the plastic
You ain’t made enough, for the cost of damage
Throughout the album (yes I still say album), you’ll hear congratulatory/prep talk voicemail messages from Stic-Man (Dead Prez), music aficionado Bobbito, famed HipHop Archivist /Video Music Box Host Uncle Ralph McDaniel and many others as they salute her return to the game in which she rightfully claims. Between the voicemail interludes are some stand out samples to choose from. “You Betta Tell Um” sites a tour-de-force dancehall riddim featuring Shani Kulture providing the catchy don dada hooks that cascade a colorful carnival scheme as Lin Que elates a verbal test of wits and candor. The running keyboard riffs in “Get It Poppin" display sheer poise as she boldly runs the gamut with the big boys while schooling and eliminating her competition.
The key-horn driven “I’m Talkin’ to Myles” dedication speaks directly to her son as she bestows advice on the perils of the world and to use caution in which only a mother could love without the mushiness. Other personal antidote is “Last Call” where she openly offers life lessons of her past addictions.
Each track from GODspeed symbolizes an emcee that is an emcee -- bar none. So get ready for this ear bending experience! And if you’re a fan of youtube like myself check out her videos ‘Breathe, Spit, Don’t Stop’ and ‘This is It’ (not featured in this album).
