Album Notes

Ms. Linscott, started singing professionally late in life due to a twenty- year bout with agoraphobia. She began her career as a singer by attending the Jazz in July workshop with a faculty of jazz luminaries including Billy Taylor, Max Roach, Yusef Latif and Sheila Jordan. Dick Hyman, in a review comment of Ms. Linscott’s eighth CD, Our Day at the Movies writes “…a gorgeous personal style…Ms. Linscott is a top-notch singer, both warm and skilled”.

She has been based in the Sarasota area for the last ten winter seasons establishing a large following performing at various venues and in concert with her trio which is headed by first-call accompanist, Charlie Prawdzik. Summer finds her at her cottage and studio on the Maine coast where she actively engages in several other art forms, including sculpture, metalsmithing, and printmaking, as well as regular gigs and concerts throughout New England with her trio headed by accomplished, veteran jazz pianist, Gerry Wright.

On April 3, 2008, Ms. Linscott released her latest CD, Once Upon a Summertime, in concert with tenor sax great, Harry Allen, at The Glenridge Performing Arts Center in Sarasota.

The new CD, recorded at Audio Images in Bradenton, Florida using the supremely talented sound engineers, Gary Baldassari and Mike Badalamenti, brought together an impressive group of musicians. Bob Alberti on piano, (retired on the East Coast after having worked as Bob Hope’s music director in Hollywood for twenty-three years), and rounding out the rhythm section was Florida’s premier bassist, Mark Neuenschwander, the marvelous bassist, the late Jim Howe and top-notch percussionist, Johnny Moore. Rick Peterson on guitar added to the group's eminence. International recording artists Harry Allen, tenor sax and Warren Vache’, cornet completed the stellar lineup with liner notes by the late jazz author and accomplished trumpeter, Richard M. Sudhalter.

Linscott will be performing locally in the Sarasota area November, 2008 through April, 2009, and will be featured singer in several concerts during the 2009 season appearing with her trio for the Jazz Club of Sarasota as well as performances in Maine.

Presently she is selecting tunes for a new CD to be recorded in the spring of 2009, a major classical composition for full orchestra, as well as assemblage, printmaking, one-of-a-kind creations in metals [pieces can be viewed on her website] and her photo art.
