Pretty Pink Panties reviewer - cgod4thestreetz
A sharp collection of original music show casing the depth and dexterity of the lionfox foxy feline movement.
love, hate, joy, pain, hope, anger, and revenge all share their place on this 19 song disc of divas and doves. cohesive, skillful and fun, the songs flow in and out of each other like a lake. lacy and racy, pretty pink panties, projects a picture perfect for its broad palette.
put this cd on repeat.
why this name?
the album name was picked by our producer, shake dua. he has several projects on his plate & thought that it would be in our best interest (at this time) to collaborate & coordinate our efforts in this manner. pretty pink panties basically speaks for its self to a certain degree, the lead artists are all young women with tremendous skill. we're all quite feminine, but thats where we actually differ from the whole idea of what pretty pink panties should or might represent. we're hard as any dude you hear on our record, or anywhere else.
basically, don't be fooled by the pretty pink panties!
-chede
would you sign a record contract with a major label?
we're doing the lionfox thing, strictly. if shake feels that it's in our better interest to sign to a major in the future, we're totally behind that maneuver, but you've gotta understand (even i know) the situation has to be lucrative with release guarantees, because we already sell records!
big shout out to shake dua, alot of this probably wouldn't of happened w/ out you big daddy!

They don't come off as your "average" female emcees. I can tell a lot of thought

I tell every artist who submits material to me for The Source's Unsigned Hype the same thing - you have to establish yourself as an artist and let the listener know what your strong points are. I listened to the album. So here are my thoughts.
The variety of female MC's on the album can actually spit. I see a lot of potential lyrically. They don't come off as your "average" female emcees. I can tell a lot of thought went into the lyrics and they can actually rap. Great MC's learn how to get inside a beat and become a part of it - as awkward as that may sound. Its something you can only do with practicing and an ear for music.
I think a lot of the hooks work as well - which is probably the hardest thing for any upcoming MC to work on. Shit - even cats with deals haven't learned how to make good hooks.
There are some beats that capture the emotion or essence of the song. I'm really really hard on beats. Personally, I'm a fan of live instrumentation and sampling.
I see promise from the MC's on the album - which is a good thing because if your artists are wack it doesn't make a difference what you do. I think you guys come together with some great concepts and ideas. The best thing is you have some MC's who can spit. That is the most important and promising thing. Stay at it.

Lionfox is putting in work!!
author: Jason
I was minding my business walking down west 4th in NYC and this woman asked me "do you have pretty pink panties?" what?! "do you have your pretty pink panties? its my cd." she says with a wink and a smile. They have a crew and are out there in the streets really selling hard. She gave me a flyer that sent me to WWW.LIONFOXENT.COM. I have to say, they're working it in the streets, they're working it online and they're working it on CDBABY.com, you gotta love hard work and the music is good stuff. If this is just the ladies of lionfox, i have got to see what the whole lionfox crew is about...
