"Who said nothing cool ever came out of Connecticut? Adam Lippman, who has had group/band efforts appear on a couple of indie-flick soundtracks, gets our attention immediately with vaguely catchy songs delived in an edgy, lo-fi framework. Not unlike Robyn Hitchcock or Joseph Arthur's trippy, experimental art-pop, Lippman's music (especially "Maybe," with its luxuriant synth textures) shows him to be an artist who has the goods and should continue to develop his uniqueness."
-Music Connection Magazine. 3/12/01
"While taking a break from his main gig as the bassist for Supple, Lippman retreated to his home studio and produced this EP. The six songs here reveal a musician madly in love with music; they're well crafted and engrossing, with simple melodies and unaffected honesty. Even sad tracks like "Maybe" feel good because the joy Lippman clearly gets from creating music shines through. Unadorned keyboards, thoughtful lyrics and understated guitar make up the pieces, but it is clear that Lippman's, and the listener's, greatest gratification comes in hearing them all together as a whole.

Edgy, Serious & Downright Sexy!
author: Tracey Adlai
Without having read the review from Music Connection before listening to Adam Lippman's LO-FI, HIGH MAITENANCE - my first thoughts echoed theirs: Lippman clearly LOVES music and uses this 10 song cd calling card to deviate from his day job as bassist for NYC's Supple (one of the best unsigned alt. rock bands around) to experiment - REACHING; show off - MAYBE; and root his talent as a solo artist - STAY.
My personal favorites are FIGURE IT OUT & PILL which seem to embody all of the above. Lippman's voice - part edgy, part serious and just downright sexy - evokes comparison to Jim Reid of the Jesus & Mary Chain at his best!
This is the album I want my local bar to add to its jukebox AND my local L.A. station, KROQ, to add to its rotation BUT, as selfish as it sounds, I'm not ready to share it with the TRL crowd. Sorry.

favorite bottle of wine

low fi high maintenance, adam lippman's first solo project apart for his beloved band supple is vulnerable and warm. adam's love and obsession with music is overwhelming. one of the rare artists that successfully can accomplish art without ego. low fi high maintenance is worth a good listen while breaking into your favorite bottle of wine.
