Lipstick Conspiracy; Way better than I had hoped
author: James Jacobson
I had heard about this group from a few different sources and decided to check out what they had out there. I came across "A Perfect Alibi" and heard a few of their tracks. I thought to myself at the time: "pretty good, but might need some better sound engineering". However, I decided to buy the CD anyway, and man, I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound and the overall musical ability of the band. I really enjoy this cd, and would recommend it to anyone.

This CD is ear candy! Try some now!

Does it ever seem like decades since the release of a truly honest, five-star Rock and Roll album? Well, the long wait is finally over, because all the songs on this CD definitely rock! With these dozen songs, the transgendered ‘Fab Four’ have proven that their virtuous musical talents ascend far beyond any possible ‘crossdressing gimmicks’. These girls are 100% real, and the music and the message they offer the listener is 100% real as well. The chord patterns and rhythm changes are as crisp and fresh as a new spring morning. Each song is brilliantly composed and arranged, in both lyrical content and musical prowess. Every song on the CD is inventive, and very original (except perhaps one, Track #4, which is a k.d. lang cover song). There is no cliché mimicry or flagrant imitation of other Rock styles – something that is all too common in new Rock and Roll recordings these days. All of the girls sing lead and background vocals, and all of the girls write and arrange, and masterfully play multiple musical instruments on this CD. Track #2, Wishing Well, is probably the best song on the entire CD in terms of its very positive message which would appeal to an audience of any sex and/or gender persuasion. For the term ‘Wishing Well’ has its own duality, in that, one can be inspired for self-betterment by a wishing well, and ‘Wishing Well’ can also mean thinking well of others. Psychedelic track #10, Andromeda Mita, must’ve arrived in some acid-soaked time capsule straight from the Haight in the late Sixties! Yes, Lipstick Conspiracy is truly a San Francisco band! But the majority of these songs speak directly to the girls’ transgendered experiences, and these songs all come right from their feminine hearts, even though their messages are set to tastefully done, hard-edged Rock and Roll. And in this reviewer’s eye, THAT is the very essence of what makes this CD so incredibly unique, perpetually entertaining, and ultimately collectible. This CD is ear candy! Try some now!
