Mi piace Martha Lipton perché adora esplorare vari generi musicali. Si sente il suo rapporto molto intenso con i paesi "calienti", ma di sicuro c'è un passato pieno di ascolti jazz.
La sua è una voce ispirata, piena di pathos, intrigante e mediterranea, che si adatta alla perfezione con la musica suonata su questo disco.

What can one say about Martha/Marta Lipton's new CD except that you cannot listen to it without wishing you were in Cancun on the beach with a Mega Margarita in your hand.

Imagine if Bette Midler and Jimmy Buffet had a daughter and she grew up wanting to be a jazz musician....

...You have Martha Lipton.

As witty a writer as she is enjoyable as a singer, Ms. Lipton plays a style of Girl From Ipanema/Alley McBeal Generation of jazz that is timeless.

This is the kind of music you'd find yourself enjoying in the background at a party or noticing in a scene in a movie as the star walks into some tropical bar in the islands.

Lyrically, Martha is capable of writing a tongue in cheek ode to the "Mega Margarita", to the next moment writing something as pretty as "Lilacs". My personal favorite is "Class of '72", which evokes memories of school days and old friends. And YES! That is Martha's voice on all the songs. Her range is amazing.

I am eagerly awaiting Martha's new CD "Blissville" that was just released.

But until then I will let "Fickle Fate" take me away to sandy beaches and warm climates where I imagine sipping a Mega Margarita and letting my worries disappear.

This is a CD EVERYBODY who loves music should OWN! Fickle Fate teaches life lessons. The lyrics are so smart and witty. Lipton's voice is sultry and seductive on one hand and so easy to listen to. I LOVE FICKLE FATE. can't wait for the next album.
