Album Notes

Find out why Listen.com calls Lis Harvey "a sparkling pixie," and describes her songwriting as "stinging but soft, in a persuasive mix that's hard to describe, all salted with a gentle humor."

From the catchy chorus of the "LA song" to the smiling warning of "Too Far Gone," you get the feeling that Lis is on your side, writing about those everyday occurances that inspire eyes to roll, fists to clench, or laughter to well up inside.

"This is the stuff the majors won't release," wrote Duncan Watt of Kanuba Music, about the controlled tension and uncanny humor in Bulb, "strong characters, doublefunk guitar..."

At twenty-one years old, this small town girl from New Hampshire delivers folk songs with intricate, sophisticated guitar picking and musical integrity. "Lis Harvey is on the cutting edge of alternative folk," writes Holly Figueroa, founder of Indiegrrl. "[She has a] unique guitar style, and a very powerful voice. Every song is a conversation, with different themes. Unlike some of the 'me me me' songwriters who can't get away from their feelings long enough to see the world around them. Lis has an intimate grasp of the art of songwriting at a tender age."

REVIEWS

contagious, addictive, habit forming
author: rick mueller
lis harvey has a voice that rips with the licks-n-picks of her guitar, both of which she has combined with her brilliant lyrics to form this cd. nothing shy or restrained here! she's got some funky sense of innate truth and humor which she has spilled into this performance. the second the la song starts you wonder why this isn't all over the radio! absolutely infectious! the cd has a range of styles, set within a common musical and philosophical center. from brooding and slow to chipper and upbeat, the lyrics seem to capture the cynical comedy of a young life's already jaded journey. the energy is addictive, and i highly recommend this cd.

Lis Harvey (stop) Great songs (stop) A must-have (stop)
author: Ami - Erlendahle Records
This debut effort by our spunky little red-haired recording artist is a real work of art - four tunes that fit together contemplatively and musically. The LA Song is my favorite - a truly fresh song about going your own way in spite of disapproval & opposition - but Too Far Gone is the one that sticks in my head... I wake up singing that song, man - "Later never comes because later is too late... and she'll be too far, too far gone..." AHH! This cd follows the tradition of indie-rocker Juliana Hatfield in terms of spit-fire melancholy, takes after the harmonies of Jennifer Kimball and Jonatha Brooke (formerly the Story), and serves it up neatly over a wink and a smile akin to Jill Sobule. We here at E.R. are super proud of this first release - and can't wait to share the second (full length) disc with you! Look for _Human After All_ in late October 2000...
