I need more music like this...
author: Sam (en busca de RE)
Well, as i said in another review, my hobby (and reason for living) is writing, and im a bit touchy (maybe elitist) about the music i listen while i write. I learned about Lisa Dewey because of some nice lists here at cdbaby and decided to give it a shot, i mean, what the hell? i decided to just buy the cd and listened to it about three times. I cant get it out of the stereo. Sorry. Too good. Very nice! :)

Makes me want to ease into the stars...
author: MODERN MARK
EAT YOUR HEART OUT MAZZY STAR! Slightly darker and moodier than Lola CUKI, Weather Changer Girl places the listener in a flying escapade of relevant lyrics, slight ambience, and deep song progressions. The opener, “Watching Her Fingers,” has something about it that just takes me away into the sky. It makes me want to rest on the grass late at night and “…Ease into the stars bright…Well.” “…Matador, Your Bullfighter!” is a serious song with gut wrenching chords and changes and a story about abused and false love. “Heathens” is a nice song to sit and close your eyes to as Simon Raymonde of the COCTEAU TWINS does his stuff. “Startle Heart” is a fascinating song that should not be overlooked. You can actually hear the love in Lisa’s voice as she sings with her softhearted touch. “Takin’ Out The Trash” sounds like something that could have been on Lola CUKI, but fits better here as it offers the listener a tease as to what they might be missing if they don’t have that album. “Stormy Colored Clouds” portrays Lisa’s vocal style with a perfect foundation of sustained vocals and swaying guitars as she lyrically sings about positive acceptance and enlightenment (this one is my favorite). “I’m not Your Lover” is a funny little ditty that shows Lisa can tell anyone off in HER own cute punky way. Makes me want to piss her off just to see her get cute…when she’s angry.

Wicked and lovely vocals and music
author: Julieta
Sharp, concise lyrics about love and loss sung so that they bite every time you hear them. The soaring, jangling guitars soothe and break your heart all at the same time. Songs like I Want to be Your Matador and Stormy Colored Clouds, put you on the edge and bring you back just before you crash. A cd that grows deeper with every listen.
