Lisa Doyle has had a varied and interesting journey in the field of music.
Raised by musical parents, she studied piano, drums, woodwinds, and guitar.
She began writing songs in high school, influenced by Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and the Beatles, while playing drums in Thursday's Children, a rock band in Central New York.
Later, Lisa formed the band Tumbleweed, a country-rock group, which showcased her original songs as well as covers.
Lisa received a B.A. in Psychology and Music from SUNY majoring in flute, and went on to receive a Masters of Arts in Music Therapy at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
She curently works in the Boston area as a Music Therapist with a mentally-ill population, using songwriting with her clients.
Lisa brings a unique combination of talents to her songwriting: rhythmic intricacies from her experience as a drummer, an alluring sense of melodic line from her experience playing flute, and a compassionate understanding of the human condition enhanced by her work as a therapist.
Lisa has had songs published in Nashville and L.A., and is a member of the Songwriters Guild.
This CD is a collection of Lisa's best material both up-tempo and ballads, combining her rock, folk and country influences.
On it, she plays guitar and harmonica, displaying her Dylanesque style.
Mark Doyle, Lisa's brother, arranged and produced the CD.
In his review of "Smoke and Mirrors" for the Syracuse, New York Post-Standard, Mark Bialczak describes this collection as "the real deal" and calls "Just Not Me" "one of the wisest break-up songs around," praising Lisa's "confident voice and lyrical touch."

Smoke and Mirrors
author: Laura Courtney aka Laura Immacolato when we were back at Lesley
I can't believe I found Lisa and her incredible music again. I knew Lisa when we were in Graduate School at Lesley in Cambridge Mass way back in 1979 and 80. She made me these wonderful tapes of her music for my birthday which I still have and love. I can't believe her voice and lyrics and total sound is as rich now as then. Actually, like fine wine it has only gotten richer. I loved her then like no other and my fondest memories are sitting next to her at the piano as she played her music to me. An incredible woman that one can never forget and is blessed to hear her music which is equally as unforgetable.
