A Rock and Roll Superstar is born!
author: George Larson
“I Am AOK” is an amazing CD for anyone that has ever felt different. This CD could well be an anthem for unique people of all types. The lyrics are witty, insightful, and affirming. More than the positive, inclusive message, though, it is the songs that make this a great CD. The songwriting is focused and strong, and the playing by all the musicians is tight and tasty. Several of the tunes on this CD would be right at home on the radio. Standouts in that regard include the driving “Fabulously Done,” the anthemic “AOK,” and the plaintive ballad “My Mistake.” The general style of the band is Rock and Roll. More specifically, the band, and especially lead singer Lisa Jackson, bring back memories of the female-led bands of the ‘80’s, with clear roots in bands like Blondie, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Pat Benatar. The songs are fresh, though, and the band’s style doesn’t feel dated at all. I can’t recommend this CD strongly enough. “I Am AOK” is more than okay, it is wonderful!
