Album Notes

Sweet and soulful, edgy and lyrical, Lisa Jaeggi's debut release, "Oh Lady You Shot Me" is an amalgam of folk, hip hop, soul and pop that expresses a raw power transcending the acoustic guitar accompaniment and sparse production of her songs. A native of Maryland and a Brooklyn transplant, Jaeggi weathers the New York singer-songwriter scene, armed with a well-worn voice and themes that range from melancholy narratives to carefully constructed observations about city life. Drawing from influences like Lauryn Hill, Citizen Cope, Sam Cooke and Jason Mraz, the 24-year-old has created an original sound that has piqued the interest of New York music-goers, building a strong, underground following at notorious venues such as The Bitter End, Lit Lounge and Rockwood Music Hall.
