notes

Lisa's 3rd solo CD is a must-have for your collection....Koch strikes again, with a mix of catchy folk/pop tunes, haunting ballads, and demented comedy offerings. Songs include: "Stainies in My Undies" (a Carpenter-esque lament), "Gravity Blues" (about the perils of age and gravity), "The Women's Health Care Medley" (songs about yearly physical exams), "I Won't Survive (The Festival)" (about being trapped at a women's music festival), "Always A Sign" (on sobriety), and 7 more great songs from Ms. Koch. Special appearances by Laura Love, Peggy Platt (Dos Fallopia), and piano by the amazing Barbara Higbie.

LISA KOCH
(demented singer/songwriter/comedian/Britney Spears body-double...)

Picture the triangulated love child of Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, and Karen Carpenter... and you’ve got Lisa Koch. An irreverent Seattle singer/comedian, Koch (“Coke”) is a deliciously twisted mix of comedy, theater, and demented songs. She has 4 solo recordings, is one-half of hilarious sketch-comedy duo, Dos Fallopia ("My Breasts Are Out of Control"), and is an alumnus of cult quartet Venus Envy ("I'll Be A Homo for Xmas"). She has shared the stage with a diverse group of performers-- Steve Martin, Dave Brubeck, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Kate Clinton, and Janis Ian.

Lisa has co-written such warped shows as "The Carpeters: Uncomfortably Close To You," “Two’s Company, I’m a Crowd,” and “Ham for the Holidays: Desperate Spuddwives.” She also finds time to work as an actor, appearing in "The Vagina Monologues,” "Dirty Blonde,” and as the Wicked Witch of the West in “The Wizard of Oz” (5th Ave Theatre). She performs regularly on Olivia Cruises, and tours her one-woman cabaret show, “Return to Planet Lisa". She is the composer of a new musical about Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas ("27 rue de Fleurus"), which premeired Off-Broadway in the spring of 2008.

"...reminiscent of the uproariously tacky mishmash once beloved by the Divine Miss M.... " --Out Magazine

“Hearing Seattle’s Lisa Koch is one of life’s wickedest pleasures…”
--Curve Magazine

"Koch has the same mischievous energy as the early Bette Midler. She seems to have that sense of joi de vivre that makes her instantly likeable. She's an out lesbian with a universal appeal…" --Washington Blade

Lisa Koch is a triple threat! She's talented, funny and can play a bad-ass bass line. I love the album 'Both of Me'. It is ,by far, my most favorite release of hers. She makes me smile and sing along...a perfect blend! It would be silly not to add this to your CD collection. Why would you want to be silly? Be smart! BUY THIS CD!!!

  • No one does it better than Lisa Koch
    author: Jacque Welsh

I have every piece of music that Lisa has ever done or been a part of, and Both Of Me is absolutely wonderful! She gets better with age, and yes, Lisa, you have to be getting a little older. I've been listening to her since the early 1990s, and she does still have Britney's body, but Britney could never keep up with Lisa's energy. Of course, she tears up the serious songs on this album, but I never could figure out how someone could come up with the funniest lyrics, yet perform such a fantastic recording of a previous hit song. It's risky, but Lisa takes that risk and can do anyone's music. Karen Carpenter would be cheering her on in Stainies in my Undies, and Gloria Gaynor would love Lisa's version of I Won't Survive. I highly recommend this CD and all of Lisa's work to anyone who needs to laugh their heads off over and over. Most of all, Lisa is one of the most talented artists I've ever seen. Lisa, don't ever stop! You are awesome! Buy this CD, you will love it!!!!!
