Former Camper Van Beethoven and Monks of Doom guitarist Greg Lisher has (finally) decided to release a collection of songs that he has been working on over the past decade in Santa Cruz. "Handed Down the Wire" features Greg's own beautiful and idiosyncratic guitar playing in his own songwriting accompanied by many former Camper and Monks bandmates, including Chris Pedersen on drums, Victor Krummenacher on Bass, David Immergluck on pedal steel and Jonathan Segel and Don Lax on violin. A fine record of pop songs comparable to XTC, Syd Barrett and even Camper's own "Our Beloved revolutionary Sweetheart" album.

Lisher RAWKS!

Greg, I've been a huge fan since '83. Love the Campers! Love your solo work. You are one of my guitar heroes!!! Love your versions of "Interstellar Overdrive" with Camper live & on CD.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find this CD here on CD Baby. Listened a bit, then bought it. It's in heavy rotation in my current listening apparatuses (or is it apparatii?). I'll be ordering the other CD soon. Look forward to seeing you live again in some lineup or another!!!

Good Stuff

I've always enjoyed Monks of Doom and was delighted to see Greg's CD along with Victor's on the magneticmotorworks.com site. This CD is very melodic and has some nice guitar playing. His voice is husky and warm, and his lyrics certainly bring smiles. I can't wait for him to release a follow up.
