One hundred and forty eight years ago one nation became divided and a struggle that tore the young country apart ensued.Soldiers learned that they had to find places within themselves to merely survive. They carried a burden few will ever know. Much of the suffering lay with the loved ones at home only hoping for shreds of news and hopes their sons and husbands would soon be home.Much of the music here in this disc is brought to you by musicians who have found inspiration in the memory of that time, and presented amazing new music for that tribute. Some of the music on this disc existed at that time and was played at campfires along the battle front and is played here with precision and in wonderful presentation.Nowhere else can you find such an amazing collection of songs that pay tribute and bring the feelings of those that lived and loved at that time within our hearts and minds today. These are some of America's best and brightest musicians playing these great songs of Americana. You will find incredible performances and outstanding lyrics that will be an important part of your collection. From the traditional 'Amazing Grace' to the battlefield memoirs of Cemetary Ridge -- you will find many new favorites in a disc that you will wan to play through all 17 tracks.Check out the samples and you will agree these songs are outstanding tributes to both the 'gray and the blue' and those that endured that time and reflect today. Here is our incredible lineup:1. This compilation pays a heartfelt tribute to a very important time in our country's history -- one that still affects us today. The songs are songs about the personal cost of war, of the longing for home, the tragedy of loss. Within the theme, there is a refreshingly broad variety of styles from the very traditional to much more modern folk. But all ring with the kind of truth without which gives Americana music its soul.
