Anne was born in London, and her family moved several times until they settled in Cardiff, South Wales when Anne was 10 years old. She has always, as far back as she can remember, "made up" songs and has a lifelong fascination with myths and legends.
She studied French at the University of Warwick, and specialised in the medieval French and Occitan texts which are among the earliest tales of King Arthur. After completing a master's degree she moved to London.
Anne has been performing in folk clubs from a precociously early age, and her songs have been attracting attention for as many years. Nic Jones was the first performer to pick up on her song "Icarus", which has since been recorded numerous times by artists as diverse as Martin Simpson, Carla Sciaky and Archie Fisher. She worked for five years with Mary McLaughlin as the duo Anonyma, she has toured with Steafan Hannigan but mostly these days she works solo in the UK, the US and mainland Europe with her mix of songs, stories and humour.
"Singing On The Wind" featured in Scott Alarik's Best 10 Albums of 1999 in the Boston Globe. The songs in this album were mostly written on the beautiful and wild Beara peninsula, on the south west coast of Ireland.

Wow!

The imagery in Anne's songs is simply amazing. I've listened to this CD three times since it arrived in the mail four days ago. Oisin simply blows me away.
