Album Notes

"Electronic music has always been a personal passion and love of mine. The eternal conflict between technology and the organic." Little Plastic Pilots is the brainchild of LA native Sam Nelson. Stemming from a creative outburst while touring with his rock outfit H is Orange, Little Plastic Pilots Combines Nelson's love for organic elements of early analog electronica with a serene and almost nostalgic sense of esthetic to create a soundtrack of his life and experiences. Alongside H is Orange and LPP, Nelson works on other various projects utilizing visual media and performance art. When Nelson was young, he had fond memories of his brother building model airplanes. He was fascinated with the time spent on meticulous details and often felt a connection to the pilot inside these small replicas. Nelson kept a collection of these pilots, and he feels his songs are much like these hidden personal treasures. Inspired by artists as diverse as Autechre, Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, Four Tet, and Fugazi, Little Plastic Pilots is Nelson's most personal and sensitive project to date. "Little Plastic Pilots is that interpretation for me; It is a reflection of my life, encapsulating my dreams, hopes, and memories while giving me a soundtrack to experience from. It is a perfect representation, in musical form, of who I am"

it was better when boards of canada did it
author: justin
i really like some of the sounds that were produced for this record, i only wish the composition didn't sound almost identical to that of boards of canada. i think that if sam were to write some more original material, it could be very good. but as it stands, boards of canada did it better.
