notes

this cd is a complete turn around, a revolution in comparison to today's music.

a not too up, not too down kind of feel. the music industry says: "we love it!" problem is where do we put it? what genre? cant be done.

the sound is best described as rock n' soul.

little sista is five black girls, all sisters (real sisters) singing rock and roll backed by a five piece band of players.

musical influences of the group are the rolling stones, tina turner, america, stevie wonder, earth wind and fire, the isley brothers, jimi hendrix, and joplin want a little little sista history? little sista first appeared on the l.a.

music scene in 1996 with a sound we call "rock and soul.

the music is a celebration of harmonies drawn from classic rock and soul artistries.

after appearing around the l.a. club scene playing such venues as the house of blues, whiskey a go go and the viper room little sista was featured on mtvs' "the cut" and the johnnie b.

show on 97.1 f.m. in los angeles and chicago.in 1998 little sista was listed on music connection magazine's hot 100 unsigned bands list and they won "best urban pop r&b band" at the l.a.music awards.

  • Diggity Dizzam this CD puts other Groups to Shame!

I met these 5 beautiful (on the inside and outside) women at the taping of the New Gong Show (they, of course, won), and was so impressed by their song "Black Girl," that I begged them to send me a CD of their music. They, being the generous, kind women that they are, gladly obliged. I found that not only did each song on the CD have the same power and soul of "Black Girl," but to be honest, I think their sound is more creative and better musically than just about every other R&B act out there. The sweet R&B vocals mixed with classic rock riffs are a medly of sound that can't be topped. This is no "girl band." This is a musical fusion centered around 5 talented women who put other acts to shame. It left me wondering...why haven't they been snatched up by a big record label, yet? Seriously, these 5 Sistas are on to the next big wave of music. Music, I KNOW you can shake your groove thang to. I only hope to one day say, "Yeah, I shook my thang at the Gong Show with Little Sista before they were LITTLE SISTA!"

  • More Than Impressed.

I became aware of Little Sista through garageband.com when their song, Love Shouldn't, popped up on my review list. There is no way of telling as you listen to the song where/who it came from. This was the review I posted for them. "Professional Jealousy Exposed. This one caught me totally by surprise. The beat and the soft vocals grabbed me right at the start. Just when I was settling into to what I thought was going to be a mellow R&B-type groove, the music and vocals took off HARD and I was pleasantly surprised and riveted to the speakers. Everything was mixed in a perfect complementary blend. The vocalist had power and sensitivity and the backups were well done. The guitar break was perfect -- smooth and sweet. The music fit the words, fit the vocals, fit the mix. Wow. I guess my only complaint is that our band didn't write this one." I will be purchasing this CD and expect many, many hours of listening pleasure from it. This is one talented family!

It's great to hear these gorgeous voices backed with real instruments played by real musicians and not just pieced-together computer sounds. There is a feeling of live performance and spontaneous musical empathy on this album that I can't live without. Thanks girls!

    author: P.b.

I kinda miss the old style a little, which is why I like Promise, I guess. I like the CD. The great voices are there. I'm more of a voice person, music and lyrics come next in my book. Let's face it if you have great voices, you could sing about fish to the sound of the ocean; and Little Sista has great voices...I know. I'll be there at the next performance...e-me when.

  • I loved it! This CD is truly a crowd pleaser.
