The Live Manikins is a collection of five individuals who came together for the common cause of making honest music. Assembling from across Northern California, the five met in Sacramento and formed a group with the aim to create sounds that would bring people together and open their minds. A blend of conscious vibes and party rocking themes have helped mold the unique Live Manikins sound.
Years together have brought the group to share the stage with some of music's legends such as Hieroglyphics, J-Rocc of the Beat Junkies, Lyrics Born, the Procussions, Strange Fruit Project, Othello, Moka Only, Zion I and the Grouch. The team of 4 microphones and 2 turntables have performed in places from the Great American Musical Hall in San Francisco to the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, all the way up to the M.A.W.O. Hip Hop Fesitval in Vancouver, Canada. The Live Manikins have been showcased on MP3.com and were semi-finalists in Bodog's Nationwide Battle of the Bands, placing as the top hip hop group in the Northern California division.
With the debut album, "Still Life," under their belt, Live Manikins have successfully created a fan following and a family of listeners and artists alike.
Live Manikins recently received the 2008 Sacramento Area Music Critics' Choice Awards for Outstanding Live Performance and Outstanding DJ/Turntablist.
