Album Notes

Living Space is a talented group of friends who hail from the San Francisco Bay Area. They write, perform, and record their own music. Their genre bending style draws from ska to punk to rock which creates an eclectic brand of music with some rock & roll edge, catchy pop melodies, and the feeling of soul music. Their use of multiple vocalists add just the right amount of variety to their catchy tunes, which keeps their sound fresh and interesting. Bands who have inspired them include Blur, The Smiths, U2, Radiohead, Weezer, as well a locals musicians Bart Davenport and Green Day.

The band consists of members: Coop R. Fransis (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Trevor Contreras (guitar, vocals, songwriter), and Kevin Costa (bassist, vocals, and songwriter). The band was formed in 1992 and took a couple of years to develop their songwriting and musicianship. Living Space released their first self recorded EP Cassette, "Wrapper" in 1995 and it was well received. That same year they began booking and playing live shows in local bars and clubs around the Bay Area.

After a year and a half of playing shows, Living Space released their full length CD, "Next 11 Exits" in 1997 under their own label, Dark Matters Productions. They recorded this CD in San Jose, Ca. at the Workhouse Studios. Next 11 Exits showed an optimistic young band experimenting with different pop genres using multiple lead vocals, horns and strings to add different colors to their palette. They continued to play shows in the Bay Area and hone their stage show. After some personnel changes Living Space returned in late 2002 with their self-recorded second full-length, "Fade Into Existence". Now with this "moodier" recording featured a collection of songs that captured a band that was dealing with growing pains and contemplation.

Now in the year 2004, Living Space is excitingly working on their new (untitled as of yet) recording project, which will feature a strong collection of rock-driven songs, funk driven grooves, piano ballads, and a few more surprises. The new recording is due out late 2004.
