Living Stone is a Christian pop/rock band with music characterized by smooth, soulful female
vocals, innovative guitar work, insightful songwriting and solid, tasteful percussion. Both
guitarist Randy Jackson and vocalist/bassist Evangeline write songs that reflect their belief in the
power and relevance of their faith and cover a wide range of themes related to the Spiritual
journey.
The band started playing together in the Twin Cities area in 1997 and has made frequent tours to
Canada as well. In July of 2004 the band released their most recent album entitled "Spirit
Whisper," presently available through www.CDBaby.com or through the band's website at
www.livingstoneband.com.
The band is composed of Evangeline on lead vocals and bass, Randy Jackson on guitar and
background vocals and Percy Gutierrez, a well known Twin Cities musician, on drums and
percussion.
Evangeline is a member of the Prairie Island Indian Community, a Dakota tribe located near Red
Wing, MN. She grew up on the Fort Traverse reservation near Sisseton, South Dakota. She
began singing at the age of four, performing gospel music with her family. In 1986 she joined
Randy Jackson, a member of the Whitefish Lake First Nation, a Cree tribe in Alberta Canada.
They performed with the group SonRise, one of the first aboriginal groups to perform all original
Christian music. The group toured North America until 1995.
The music of Living Stone involves a wide range of stylistic influences such as Sheryl Crow, Los Lonely Boys, Bonnie Raitt, Jonny Lang, Carlos Santana, Norah Jones and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Songwriting influences include Christian artists Andrae Crouch, Larry Norman, Degarmo and Key, Dottie Rambo and Big Tent Revival as well as Kris Kristofferson, Don Henley and the prophet Jeremiah. Clothing influences include Tank Girl, Johnny Cash (drummer only) and that one guy from Winnipeg. There, do you have it now? Check out the CD, baby.
