"Her sincerity in rendering the lyrics to a wide variety of songs makes the tunes sound like they were written for her even though she only actually composed the title cut. Clearly, Liza Lee only sings songs in which the words mean a lot to her, which gives deeper meaning to these renditions than they usually receive. This haunting disc is well worth checking out."
(Scott Yanow, All Music Guide)
"Throughout Scarlet Mark Liza Lee isn't afraid to mix up her influences and put them in a jazz context. In fact, from the first note of Scarlet Mark it's as diverse a vocal record as you're likely to hear. Liza opens the album with a stunning lazy Sunday morning version of "Strawberry Fields Forever." It's so seductive that it would make Paul McCartney blush. The song is so well done that within the first 30 seconds Liza has you trapped in her spell."
"Liza Lee, Bruce Barth, and the rest of her band have done an excellent job here and Scarlet Mark couldn't be any better if they tried."
(Paul Zimmerman, First Coast News)
"Natural, erotic, but also spiritual"
(Bruno Pollacci, Animajazz Italy)
"Her soothing voice will capture your soul."
"Be on the look out for this up and coming star!"
(Mike James, Smooth Jazz and More)
"Liza Lee's a gifted jazz singer and her choice of songs is pretty bold even in this day and age."
(Anna Maria Stjarnell, Collected Sounds Women In Music)

Liza Lee has created a classic CD
author: Pat HorganHer song choices are risky, but she is up to the task. Surely to cover Strawberry Fields Forever is to court disfavor with the Gods..BUT,her love ,her inner love of the song swoops it up and caresses it then sets it free...DO YOURSELF A FAVOR..Buy it and turn on a friend..so you can tell everyone I told you so when she becomes a Superstar(..there's no way ,it won't happen..)
beautiful. just beautiful.
author: amelia frank-vitalethis cd is gorgeous - Liza Lee's voice is fluid and soulful but the emotion, the intensity with which she sings is what really grabs you. it's an album which would speak to anyone who has fallen into and out of love, who has felt that real pain. i think it's a collection of songs which women especially can really connect to, and liza's versions are heart-wrenching, poignant, powerful and simply beautiful.
Eclectic soulful intimate and personal
author: John RomeyI recieved this album shortly after the release date and am continually amazed every time I listen to the music. The musicians are amazing and connect well to each other to create an eclectic mix of atmospheric soundscapes interacting with the very fluid vocals. Instantly the listener realizes that this is not a singer spurting out lyrics, but a carefully planned, intimatly emotional journey. There is a story here and I think that the listener should listen closely and enjoy the rare oppurtunity of experiencing someone being completly open and without boundries.
