Liz McNicholl brings music to life. She combines Irish traditions with the excitement of contemporary folk styles -- the likes of Shawn Colvin, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black, and John Prine -- all presented in her own rich, golden voice.
Liz grew up in a small village in Co. Meath, Ireland, and came to the United States in 1985. The plan was to be here for just a year. Needless to say, she fell in love with America and decided to stay.
Liz performs as a soloist in the New York area and has entertained audiences in venues such as the Coney Island festival, the Red Lion in Greenwich Village, and the Levitt Pavilion in Westport.
Her recently released debut album, \"Grand Central Station,\" showcases Liz\'s wonderful rich voice. Her unique style and versatility shines through in the diverse collection of Irish & folk songs. The title track was written by Liz, and describes seeing \"NY in a different light\". Throughout the album you are reminded of Ireland as you hear the tin whistle\'s seductive airs, played beautifully by Joannie Madden from the renowned Irish group, Cherish the Ladies.
One of the songs featured on her album is \" The Bravest,\" a song that was written by American Folk singer/songwritter Tom Paxton. The song is in dedication to all the heroes who died on Sept. 11th 2001, and describes the chilling story of Firefighters climbing the stairs that day.

All the songs are great but the one for 9/11 is awesome

The songs on the CD were great. When a Priest plays a CD at a retreat you can bet everyone enjoyed it and wants to have a copy. I may be ordering more for some people. Thanks.

Wonderfully refreshing

Grand Central Station is an refreshing album that starts great, but absolutely finishes with a bang. When I first heard the song "The Bravest" I literally had chills. The Irish sound on "Carrickfergus" seems to take me their even though I have never been. This album is one you can listen to over and over. I know, because I have.
