Album Notes

Hurts to Purr was formed in 2003 by Liz Pappademas, Tom Benton and Jeremy Bruch. They released a full-length self-titled album in 2005.

Producer Kevin Ryan and the band flew to Los Angeles to mix the record with Brian Kehew (Fiona Apple, Air) and earned a slot on NPR's All Songs Considered Open Mic program, but the band parted ways in January of 2006 citing diverging future plans as the cause for the split.

Don't let that sway you though, we still have plenty of Hurts to Purr CDs in stock, ready to ship to your home.

And, if you're interested in hearing more from Liz Pappademas, go to lizpappademas.com. Her solo follow up "11 Songs", will be available here April 3, 2007.

REVIEWS

Astoundingly good
author: Tristan S
I've had this album for a couple of years now, and I've never grown tired of it. It is really quite stunning -- proof that the true indie world is capable of offering up timeless albums. This is about as good as it gets from my perspective. The songs are incredibly well-written, intelligent and unique. Liz's voice is a crushingly beautiful instrument, and the performances all around are great. The production BLOWS me away. This is one aspect that separates this album from others by similarly talented singer-songwriters. The palette of sounds on this album is remarkable and incredibly inventive - the arrangements boost the songs from merely fantastic to utterly brilliant. 500 listens later and I'm still finding things in these songs I never heard before. Wonderfully recorded and mixed. If only all albums were this enveloping... Definitely add this to your collection. It is an unknown classic.

If you can get music here from Pandora all the time, you would be my one-stop shop for music. This album has a remarkable sound and is the only one the band made. Good thing Liz Pappademas has others. Thanks.
