Album Notes

Lorenzo L. Harrison is the father of the Jewell Dominion’s music tradition. Born on February 11, 1925 in Ocala, Florida to Frank and Henrietta Harrison. His desire as a young man was to use his talent playing music for the Lord.

Lorenzo is the Architect and most prominent ambassador of the Jewell Dominion’s music tradition. He was also the answer to Chief Jewell’s prayers. She prayed that God would give her church a style of music that would distinguish them from any other, and that is exactly what happened.

He influenced the style, sound and direction of this music as it trickled down to other churches within the Jewell Dominion, producing scores of accomplished steel players to carry the tradition on.

Using the Morley Wah Pedal, he created a sound and style of music never before heard in churches and changed the way most people perceived the steel guitar. Lorenzo single handedly changed the whole concept of what could be played on the steel guitar.

Harrison was able to establish the steel guitar as the lead instrument in the church. Lorenzo was a multi-talented musician playing the bass and steel guitar behind the legendary Jewell Gospel Trio singing group in the early 1950’s.

This Tribute is Freddie Mae Harrison’s (wife)way of honoring the memory of her late husband, Lorenzo Harrison, affectionately known as "Doc". This CD contains live church recordings of Lorenzo ranging from the years 1969 to 1986.

The audio quality is admirably clear and well preserved. These limited recordings are now being released for public consumption. The music was transferred from cassette tapes over to compact disc. The sound has been enhanced in the studio and re mastered to produce a better quality recording. This is a great addition to any rare or vintage collection. You can look forward to many happy hours of listening to the harmonious melodies on this tribute CD.

Twenty years after his death, his musical influence can still be heard within the walls of the Jewell Dominion church. His legacy will forever remain as a landmark of greatness in the Grand Old Church of the Living God.

Awesome! Take me back Take me back to the day when we used to have GOOD OLE Church. I grew up as a child in COTLG, under the late Bishop Jones, and remember the days when the saints would come to Mt.Clemens, Mi and we would DANCE until our clothes were wet. O what a time we would have. Thanks for preserving the music/Legecy of a great Man of God.

Awesome! This truly is a great work. Bishop Harrison's musical influence will be herald around the world. He was the greatest of our time. His legacy must live on. We as saints must keep it alive - Bishop believed in praise as well as the late great Chief Jewell. Let us not forget from whence we came. Let's keep the praise as of the "old time". Keep the steel guitar alive in our services. I personally believe that this music is an annointing from God himself. Let's keep up, don't park Bishop Harrison's music in the archives, it is still very much alive. BE blessed!

Good but needs to be re-issued!

This CD is supposed to be MUSIC by him! When it is promoted as his music, it is not promoted as a listening to him testify. Thirteen minutes of the Bishop talking is way to much, plus we have to listen to his Wife on cut number two.... I suggest that you take out all of this and increase the time for the rest of the cuts... They sound like the music was just stopped... A testimonial CD would have a limited appeal but it dose not belong on a MUSIC CD. It is very hard to recommend this CD as is.... Music is great, what short cuts there are.
