Born and raised on the Qualla Boundary in Cherokee, N.C. First learned the stories of his people from two story telling Uncles. Later, learned stories of other tribes and contemporary Indians. His programs include the old stories (legends), modern day Indians and personal stories.
He has shared at the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Institute asked him to tell at the National Folklife Festival (2003) and for the opening of the American Indian Museum (2004), the National Storytelling Festival, the Carter Presidential Center, Merlefest, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Northwestern University, and numerous other colleges, museums, storytelling festivals and Pow-wows.
He has appeared on the Discovery Channel. Did a video on storytellers for Georgia Public Television. Did the narration for several videos, history of "Unto These Hills", videos on Cherokee craftspeople..
Included in the books, "120 Storytellers from around the World" and "Storytellers: Folktales and Legends from the South".
Published a book called, "The Animal's Ballgame" based on a Cherokee legend.
Produced a CD of stories called, "Can You Hear the Smoke?"

His wonderful voice and delivery gave us all the feeling we were sitting around a campfire while he told us tales passed down from our ancestors. The children were mesmerized by the "Elder" as they called him and the wonderful stories he was telling. I will buy more of his work.
