Album Notes

This limited release features close to an hour of hardcore improvisation in a group led by unsung Philadelphia jazz legend and ESP-Disk recording artist Elliott Levin. Levin, a Cecil Taylor band alumni, is a powerhouse tenor and flute player that can give just about anybody a run for the money. He's also a serious abstract poet who delivers bizarre imagery with energy and a touch of surreal humor. Leading this crack West Coast rhythm section, sparks fly. Scott R. Looney is a piano madman playing on the keys or inside of his instrument with lightspeed accuracy and an un-erring sense of harmony and movement. Damon Smith approaches the bass as a total sound device ranging from sturdy underlying foundation to stratospheric solo voice all the way to pure noise. Weasel Walter is known for his long running stint in punk-jazz/no-wave/brutal prog unit The Flying Luttenbachers and his total high energy approach to constant propulsion and speed. The joy and excitement of this music is tangible - let these master musicians overtake you with sound and energy!
