CD permanently out of stock. Sorry!

"Its 'gear' and 'fab' and all your other pimply hyperboles." Its raucous, energetic performance over precise, melodic songwriting. Its early British Invasion with a bit of today's oomph. Its "yeah, rock." as the kids these days are saying.

notes

Locksley is a four-piece rock and roll band, in the grand tradition. Hailing back to the early Beatles/Kinks days of the British Invasion, Locksley are equal parts raucous, energetic live performers and precise, melodic songwriters. Although the friends from Madison, Wisconsin's West High School performed together with regularity during those formidable years, the Locksley story doesn't really begin until the boy's mutual love of a band set them on the road to New York.

New York immediately saw Locksley - Jesse Laz (rhythm guitar), Aaron Collins (bass guitar), Kai Kennedy (lead guitar) and Sam Bair (drums) - developing as songwriters and musicians and, more importantly, coming together as a band. After initial setbacks, the lads got on their feet with the independent release of their debut album "Safely from the City" in June of 2004. The album established an individual sound for Locksley, separating them from the wealth of Strokes derived acts populating the city's scene.

With the release of "Safely", Locksley has begun more frequent concert appearances in and around the city. Heavy grassroots promotional efforts and blistering live performances have resulted in a rapidly expanding fan base. The last month has witnessed Locksley move into regular rotation on a number of college radio playlists and has garnered them invites to play with some of New York's hottest up and coming acts. The strength of the New York reaction has encouraged the band to release a new studio EP, due out in the spring of 2005, and has earned them a residency at the world-famous CBGB's. Through it all Locksley remains steadfast in their crusade to create uplifting, accessible songs that, truly, anyone can enjoy, while harkening back to a time when music was fun and pop WAS rock.

Locksley. Yeah, rock.

This CD is SO refreshing! I've been surfing the web looking at independent bands for a while and never encountered one as new and exciting or professionally recorded as Locksley. It's reminded me how much I love music!

  • Beatles Reincarnate

This is probably the best purchase I've made. Ever. If you love John, Paul, George, and Ringo, you'll love these guys. Please, Locksley, put out another LP. I'm waiting.

If you dig the Beatles and the British Invasion, then Locksley is for you. These guys have it all. Check this album out along with Safely from the City. And anything they put out in the future. They should be signed to a major label already. A great party album or just cruising down the highway with the windows down and the stereo cranked. Makes me think its the sixties all over and they also fit right in with whats happening in music now. So much better than MANY new bands. Buy it now and support this great band.

  • Locksley, Yeah Rock

Great CD, Great early 60's Beatle-kink-esque type rock. I am surprised these guys haven't been signed by a major label, but I am willing to bet a record rep will son be knocking at their door. Good Harmony, nice simple lyrics with a rockabilly beat. Thanks!

  • Love the Beatles! Love Locksley!

I read that some of you were from WI, where were you when I lived there? I work for a company that Locksley recently shot a video for. When I heard the music coming out of the editing bay I immediately rushed in and needed to know who it was. Being a huge Beatles fan I instantly loved them and had to have their CD. It's great, I recommend to everyone to get it.

  • Happy Fun Time

A great ep full of upbeat Beatles-esque songs reminiscent of the 60's. I saw these guys play at CBGB's while visiting New York and their live show is also amazing.

  • Remember then, now.

For those who still reminisce about the late-50’s, early 60’s and wonder what returning might be like the Locklsey’s will probably be your best chance. With a combination early-Beatles, British invasion force, this New York band will meet your needs for the past, while writing all of these songs in the present. This can be seen as another example of the long arm of Beatlemania, but the band is original enough to be able tout their obvious similarities. As someone who grew up, admittedly years later, listening to this type of music I have to say bands such as the Locksley’s are, or should be, appreciated. Admittedly, many consider early Beatles to be diminished by later Beatles, and some of the British groups of the time were downright hokey, but they Locksleys know what they like, and show and sing it. All in all, the band may merely be experiencing timing problems, but when ahead of the times is so doted upon, why not behind the times, in many’s halcyon days.

  • better than ever!

Locksley just keeps getting better and better! They've grown into a formidable rock group- and on the brink of real stardom. I've got their first two CDs and play them constantly. Can't wait till the next CD comes out.

  • Great!

Man, I love these songs! They're just so good. If you like this, buy their first CD "Safely from the City" right now (its on CDBaby too) which is where I found out about this band to begin with. Seriously do it now, 'Don't Make Me Wait!'
