The Locust Mountain Boys started in 2002 as two families bringing their talents together. Steve Carper Jr and Victor Dowdy (of Bluegrass Brothers) got together and decided to start the band to showcase the “kids” which included; Steve Dowdy (Bluegrass Brothers) and at that time up and coming (then 16 yrs old) Donald Dowdy (now with Bluegrass Brothers) and last but not least (then 14 yrs old) Jesse Carper who now with his dad Steve are the remaining original members in the band. After two cd’s and several member changes the band has evolved into a progressive hard playing bluegrass band. Jerry Woods on fiddle & harmony, Jeff Downey on guitar & vocals, Steve Young on bass and vocals, Steve Carper Jr on banjo and vocals and once again, and bringing the high energy to the band (now 21 year old) Jesse Carper, on mandolin and lead vocals.
