Album Notes

Marlo Bloxson, a.k.a. L.O.D. or Lo, started his music career as a child and never looked back.

Lo, recipient of the "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" placed in the top 10 in the "2001 John Lennon Songwriting Contest" and has worked in studios around the country studying styles from different regions, and adding them to his arsenal.

Even though some have compared his rap style to those of more popular artists such as 50-Cent, Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliot , he has still been able to distinguish himself through his lyrical content.

The depth of his versatility is so vast, that to assume that he can only rap would be a large understatement.

Lo actually made his debut as a singer when he opened for James Brown, but since then he has focused primarily on establishing himself as a rap artist.

Lo has opened shows for artists such as Bone Thugs-N-Harmoney,Avant and Lil Flip, as well as headlining for other shows in the Cleveland area.

Lo also spends a considerable amount of time writing for local artists as well as performing an occasional cameo on other projects.

As time passes, Lo's hunger, drive, and expectations all increase which, keeps him humble and thirsty for success.

When asked what he is trying to get out of this rap game, L.O.D., responded with a quote from Dough a song off of his first solo album The Foundation: "I want it all, cash, chicks, and Jaguars." Lo's ultimate goal is to impact the music world with not only his lyrical content, but his artistic style as well.

Now that he has already completed his sophomore album, Strenuous, Lo says that he is one album closer to achieving his goal.

Through many years of hard work and dedication, Lo has developed discipline, professionalism, and a true since of improvisation and musical creativity.

Without a doubt, his writing ability, style versatility and overall love of music will ultimately lead him to a career filled with enjoyment and success.

These 13 cuts are an impressive pleasure!
author: Franklin Soults
Yes, thug rap is a musical and social drag. And no, this 23-year-old doesn’t blow past that critical limitation like M.O.P. do with their passionate grit or Nelly does with his distinctive style. But damn, these 13 cuts are an impressive pleasure anyway. Marlo Bloxson, aka L.O.D., may tread the well-worn path between DMX’s barking and Tupac’s pleading, but he rhymes with an eye for detail and an ear for alliteration that outshines either of those lowlife icons. Despite all his crude talk of fellatio and "redrum," in under three seconds he can also dash out a perfect veni-vidi-vici quatrain like "Got me comin’ and gushin’/She drink the White Russian/Now we kissin’ and touchin’/Presto, my production." And executive producer and label owner Gregory "G-Hitz" Morrison offers a varied, hook-laden production that puts him in the pro camp at the age of 20. From L.O.D.’s slamming theme song to the haunting, delicately looped title track, this disc proves you don’t have to rise above to get over. A MINUS
